Statement
Welcome to the dark, psychological realm of contemporary impressionism that is Jesusjoints.
Through mind-bending perspectives on religious themes, this work captures the divine chaos of reality, instilling a spectrum of emotions that challenge conventional interpretations of beauty. Vibrant oil paints, thick brushstrokes, and dynamic mixed media converge to create a uniquely visceral experience, igniting a sense of mental warfare within the viewer.
The primary medium—framed glass panels—goes beyond ergonomic appeal. Glass serves as a profound metaphor for the art’s themes: its fragility mirrors the delicate nature of belief systems and concepts, capable of shattering like reality itself if not handled with care. These pieces become tangible reflections of the human psyche, inviting contemplation and connection.
Biography
Jesusjoints (Meg Hadley) is a contemporary artist working with oil paint on glass. Her work is built through layered application directly onto glass panels, at times incorporating stained glass within the composition to extend the structure of the piece.
Her practice spans a range of visual motifs, including the human figure, florals, skeletal forms, and symbolic imagery, unified by a focus on distortion, detail, and emotional intensity. Drawing from religious iconography, personal mythology, and contemporary culture, her paintings construct surreal, often unsettling compositions that resist fixed interpretation.
Her work emphasizes material and surface, allowing each piece to exist as both image and object. Across shifting subject matter and evolving series, her practice remains rooted in tension, transformation, and the physical presence of the work itself.
